The Recipe Adventure

Be sure to small and take a little taste of the spices before you cook the chips. It may surprise you how the taste of the spices will change after baking. Your tongue can detect five flavors: sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami a Japanese word that means “pleasant savory taste.”

Did You Know?

Cumin:
Cumin is a flowing plant, and its seeds, once dried, have a distinctive flavor and aroma. It adds an earthy and warm taste to food, making it a popular spice in recipes like chili and curry.

Paprika:
Paprika comes from dried and ground red peppers, a spice that originated in Central America before spreading to Europe, where Hungary and Spain became famous for producing it. Its flavor ranges from sweet and mild to smoky and rich, adding both warmth and bright color to foods.

Garlic Powder:
Garlic powder is made from dehydrated garlic cloves, a plant that has been grown for thousands of years and was used as both food and medicine in ancient Egypt and China. It has a savory, slightly sweet flavor that’s gentler than fresh garlic but still adds big, comforting taste.

Onion Powder:
Onion powder comes from dried onions, a vegetable cultivated for more than 5,000 years and valued in early civilizations like Mesopotamia and Egypt. It brings a mellow, sweet-savory boost that enhances almost any recipe without overpowering it.

Salt & Pepper:
Salt is a mineral harvested from oceans and ancient sea beds, while pepper comes from peppercorns — the dried berries of a tropical vine originally grown in India and traded for centuries along spice routes. Salt sharpens and enhances flavors, while black pepper adds earthy heat, making them the perfect seasoning pair.
